Terms of Service
Last updated 19 October 2026
In short: Mulaport is a marketplace that connects clients who need deliveries with independent riders. We do not employ the riders. You pay the full fare when you book, and we hold it until the delivery is confirmed. This page explains the rules for using the service. Please read it before you book a delivery or accept a job.
1. Who we are
Mulaport is an online delivery marketplace in Nigeria. The service is operated by Mulaport Enterprise (BN 9878338), a business name registered in Nigeria with the Corporate Affairs Commission, whose principal place of business is 08 Agwantivi Street, SCC Junction, Ushafa, Bwari, FCT Abuja, Nigeria. You can contact us at hello@mulaport.com.
In these terms, "Mulaport", "we", "us" and "our" mean the business named above. "You" means anyone who uses the service, whether as a client booking a delivery or as a rider carrying one. By creating an account, booking a delivery or accepting a job, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use Mulaport.
2. What Mulaport does, and what it does not do
Mulaport provides a platform where clients book deliveries and independent riders carry them. Riders use a bicycle, motorbike, car or van. Riders are independent contractors. They are not our employees, agents or representatives. They choose when to go online and which jobs to accept. We do not control how a rider rides, the route they take or the hours they work, beyond the standards in these terms and the traffic laws that apply to everyone on the road.
We are a marketplace. We are not a delivery company, a bank or an insurer. We do not own the packages, and we do not take possession of them. We provide the booking, payment, dispatch and confirmation tools that let clients and riders deal with each other.
We work to keep the service available and safe, but we cannot promise that every rider will accept an order, that every route will be clear, or that the app will never be interrupted. Network coverage, weather, traffic and device problems can affect a delivery.
3. Eligibility and your account
You must be at least 18 years old to use Mulaport. You must sign in with a phone number that belongs to you. Sign-in works by a one-time code sent by SMS to that number. Do not share that code with anyone, including someone who says they work for Mulaport. Our team will never ask you for it.
When you create an account you choose a role: client or rider. Your role determines what you can do and which parts of these terms apply to you most directly. The service is invite-only for now. We may open it more widely later, and we may change what each role can do as the service develops.
You must give accurate information and keep it up to date. If your phone number changes, update it in the app. You are responsible for activity on your account. If you believe someone else has access to it, contact us so we can help you secure it.
We may suspend your account if you break these terms, if we suspect fraud, if there is a safety concern, or if the law requires it. When we suspend an account, we record a reason, and you can contact us about it.
4. Booking a delivery
A client books by entering a pickup and a drop-off. Every location is checked with Google Maps and must be inside Nigeria. A trip is limited to 50 km by road. If the route is longer, the booking cannot go ahead.
Each stop takes a contact name, a phone number and an optional landmark note. The client must make sure these details are correct and that the contact person knows a delivery is coming. The client is also responsible for making sure the package is ready, packed for the journey and within what the chosen vehicle can carry.
The fare is calculated by Mulaport from the road route, using distance and time, and from the vehicle type. It is shown before the client books. If our rates change between the quote and the booking, the client is shown the new fare before anything is created. Nothing is charged until the client confirms.
The fare booked is the fare paid. We do not add a separate charge after the delivery. Amounts are shown in naira (₦).
5. Fares, payment and holding of funds
The client pays the full fare when booking. Payment is taken through our payment partner's hosted checkout, which supports card, bank transfer and similar methods. We do not see or store full card details. The payment partner handles them.
The money is collected into Mulaport's account and held. It is not paid to the rider at booking. Mulaport keeps a commission, which is a share of the fare. The rest is the rider's share. Riders see only their own share, before they accept a job.
Mulaport is not a bank. We do not offer a wallet, we do not accept deposits, and we do not hold money for any purpose other than a specific order. Held funds relate only to the order they were paid for. They are not savings, credit or an investment, and they do not earn interest for anyone.
6. How riders are matched to orders
When an order is paid, we offer it to nearby available riders, one at a time, for 30 seconds each. The first rider to accept gets the job. If nobody accepts in that window, the order can continue to be offered.
Before a rider accepts, they see the pickup and drop-off areas, the distances and what they will earn. They do not see the full addresses or contact details at that stage. After accepting, they see the full addresses, contact names, phone numbers and notes. This protects the client's details until a rider has committed to the job.
The client sees the rider's first name and vehicle type. That is the information the client needs to recognise who is coming. If the person who arrives does not match, do not hand over the package and contact us.
7. Pickup and delivery codes
Every order has a 4-digit pickup code and a 4-digit delivery code. Both are shown only to the client, on the order page. The client should keep them private.
The rider must enter the correct pickup code to complete the pickup, and the correct delivery code to complete the drop-off. The client must pass the delivery code to the person receiving the package. Do not give the code to the rider before the package has been handed over in person. The code is what proves the handover happened.
If the wrong code is entered five times, that step is locked for 10 minutes. The client can still see the code and pass it to the right person. The rider takes a photo at the drop-off before entering the delivery code. The client can see that photo.
8. Tracking during a delivery
While a job is active, the rider's phone reports its location about every 15 seconds. The client can see the rider's position only while the job is active. Tracking stops when the job ends.
We also keep a coarser trail, about once a minute, and the rider's position at each status change. We use these records for disputes and safety. Our Privacy Policy explains this in more detail.
Location tracking depends on the rider's phone, network coverage and permission settings. We cannot guarantee that a position will always be current or exact. If you cannot see the rider, use the contact details on the order.
9. Confirmation, problems and rider payouts
After delivery, the client can tap Confirm delivery or Report a problem. The problem options are: not received, damaged, wrong item, or other, with an optional note.
If the client does nothing, the order confirms automatically 24 hours after the rider marks it delivered. A reported problem stops the automatic confirmation. The payment stays held while Mulaport reviews the matter.
On confirmation, the rider's share is transferred to the rider's payout account. Mulaport may hold or freeze a rider's payouts while it investigates a problem or a safety concern. When it does, a reason is recorded.
Reporting a problem does not by itself mean a refund will be given. We review what happened, including the order record, the delivery photo, the tracking trail and what both sides tell us. Please keep the package and any photos until the review is finished.
10. Refunds and cancellations
There is no self-service cancellation or refund process yet. If a delivery cannot be completed, or if a problem is upheld after review, Mulaport will decide, case by case, whether to refund all or part of the fare to the original payment method. We will contact both the client and the rider as part of that decision.
We do not promise an automatic refund, and we do not promise a fixed time for a decision. Each case depends on its facts. Where a refund is approved, it goes back to the original payment method, not to another account or to cash.
11. Riders on Mulaport
To apply as a rider, you provide your full name, date of birth, address, vehicle type and vehicle details, and eight documents: a passport photo, a selfie, a national ID (NIN slip or card), a driver's licence, a rider's permit, vehicle registration, insurance and a utility bill. You also provide a guarantor's details and your bank account details.
A member of the Mulaport team reviews every application by hand. We approve or reject it with a reason. Applying does not guarantee approval, and approval can be withdrawn if your documents stop being valid or if you break these terms.
Riders must keep their documents valid and tell us when any of them changes or expires. Riders must obey traffic laws and ride safely. They must carry only lawful items and must not open packages. They must not ask clients for extra cash, whether for the fare, for waiting, or for anything else.
Riders must use the app honestly: mark statuses when they happen, enter the correct codes, take the drop-off photo, and report problems rather than working around them. Payouts depend on accurate records, so a false status or a missing photo can delay or stop a payout while we review it.
12. Prohibited items
You must not use Mulaport to send anything illegal. This includes drugs, weapons, ammunition and explosives, flammable or hazardous materials, live animals, cash and negotiable instruments, stolen goods, and anything heavier or larger than the vehicle can safely carry.
A rider may refuse a package they reasonably believe is prohibited or unsafe. Refusing a package for that reason is not a breach of these terms. If you are unsure whether an item is allowed, contact us before booking.
The client is responsible for the contents of every package. If a client sends a prohibited item, we may suspend the account and report the matter to the authorities where the law requires or allows it.
13. Your responsibilities
- Give correct details: your real name, a working phone number, accurate locations and contact information.
- Be reachable while a job is running. Clients and riders need to contact each other during a delivery.
- Treat each other with respect. Threats, abuse, discrimination and harassment are not allowed.
- Do not use Mulaport for fraud, for moving stolen goods, or to get around another person's rights.
- Do not interfere with the app, try to access accounts or data that are not yours, or use the service to send spam.
- Keep the handover codes private, and share the delivery code only with the person receiving the package.
- If something goes wrong, report it through the app or contact us. Do not try to settle a serious dispute by withholding a package or demanding extra money.
14. Our liability
Mulaport provides a marketplace. We are not the carrier and we are not an insurer of goods. We do not guarantee that a rider will accept an order, that a delivery will arrive by a particular time, or that a package is suitable for carriage.
To the extent the law allows, our liability for any claim connected to an order is limited to the fare paid for that order. This cap does not apply where the law does not allow a limit, including death or personal injury caused by negligence, or fraud.
Clients should not send irreplaceable items, or items of high value, without making their own arrangements for that risk. If you are sending something important, consider what you would do if it were lost or damaged, and arrange your own protection before booking.
Nothing in these terms removes rights you have under Nigerian law that cannot be removed by agreement.
15. Suspension and closing accounts
We may suspend or close an account for breaking these terms, for suspected fraud, for safety reasons, or where the law requires it. When we suspend an account, we record a reason.
You may stop using Mulaport at any time. Closing your account does not cancel an order that is already in progress, and it does not remove obligations that arose before closure, such as payment for a completed delivery.
We may keep records after an account closes where tax, accounting or other law requires it, and for the reasons described in the Privacy Policy.
16. Disputes and governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
If you have a dispute with us, contact us first. We will try to resolve it with you within 30 days. Many problems can be settled faster by looking at the order record together.
If we cannot resolve it within 30 days, the courts of Nigeria have jurisdiction, and the courts of Lagos State are the proper place to bring the matter.
If your dispute is with another user, you may still contact us. We can share the records we hold where the law allows, but we do not act as a court.
17. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the service changes or as the law requires. We will post the new version on this page and update the date at the top. For material changes, we will also tell users in the app.
If you keep using Mulaport after a change takes effect, you accept the updated terms. If you do not agree, stop using the service.
